Transfer season is about to arrive soon as Serie A giants Juventus are plotting a bid to land out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata.
Tension increases at the Manchester United camp as another player’s contract is about to expire soon. The midfield sensation Juan Mata could be open to moving as his contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season.
It is reported that Serie A side Juventus are ready to offer Juan Mata a way out of Manchester United. The club is expected to make a bid for United star in January transfer window as the player will enter his final six months of the current contract.
The Evening Standard has reported that Juventus will look to convince the player for an end-of-the-season move. This situation has put Manchester United under pressure to sort out Mata’s contract extension as soon as possible.
Mourinho wants Mata to stay!
It is believed that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has asked the club to offer an extension to Juan Mata. He has made it clear to the United board that he wants to keep working with the player. Jose has told the board to tie Mata to a new contract with fellow Spaniard Ander Herrera, whose contract also runs out at the end of the season.
The sources close to the Manchester United midfielder have claimed that the player is too young to be looking at lucrative offers from US or China. At this time of his career, a move to Italian champions looks quite appealing.
Juventus have been long following the trend of bringing high profile out-of-contract players to the club for free. They brought Patrice Evra, Sami Khedira, Dani Elves and Emre Can on free transfers in recent years.
The style of Juventus’ game plan also looks to be ideal for Juan Mata. The slower game pace could match Mata’s characteristics and he could fit in well.
The Spaniard is also linked with two of his former Spanish clubs; Real Oviedo, the club where Mata started his youth career. And Valencia, where the player has played between 2007 and 2011, making over 170 appearances.
Losing Juan Mata would be a mistake
It will be a great loss for United if they lose him at the January transfer window. Juan Mata has been impressive this season despite United’s poor start of the season. He has shown his value on and off the pitch, as one of United’s best players in the current squad. He has made some strong performances this season, including an epic comeback against Newcastle, in which Mata scored a beautiful goal from a direct free-kick.
Manchester United will face Juventus in the group stage of UEFA Champions League on 8th of November. The game will be played at Juventus’ home ground.
