Jones is back
Defender Phil Jones is ready to get back in the squad. The player missed United’s last three games as he suffered from a hamstring injury during the defeat against Spurs. The player is expected to return to the Manchester United line-up as Mourinho confirms in his press conference earlier today that he is okay.
Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo ruled out due to injuries
According to the manager, midfielder Ander Herrera is in the final stage of his recovery process. However, the player is still unavailable for selection after he picked up a knock during training. The Spaniard has missed United’s last two senior matches.
On the other side, the Argentinian defender Marcos Rojo is yet to feature this season. He sustained the knee injury which he picked up during this summer’s World Cup. Mourinho has told the media that Rojo is not yet training with the team. Rojo was involved in United’s under 23 clash against Reading last week, but the player was replaced in the 55th minute.
Nemanja Matic and Marcus Rashford facing suspensions
Key United midfielder Nemanja Matic will serve his one-match suspension this weekend. The player was sent off in the dying minutes of the match against Watford. He will be available for selection for United’s Carabao Cup clash against Derby County on Tuesday.
Striker Marcus Rashford will sit out his second game of the three-match suspension. The player was involved in a head-butt bust up against the former Red Phil Bardsley, with Rashford receiving a straight red card for the first time in his career. He will also miss the Tuesday game against Derby County.
Diogo Dalot will not play against Wolves
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Diogo Dalot will not feature in the Premier League game against Wolves this Saturday. He told the media that he was very impressed by the youngster’s performance in the Champions League. However, he will not be playing the next match because the manager wants him to be totally fresh for the Carabao cup game.
With Dalot set to miss the next game, it is expected that Valencia will return for United at the right-back position.
How is the team shaping up?
Mourinho’s side is tightened up in a busy schedule. The boss says that the atmosphere in the dressing room is positive after three away wins. Jose admitted that it is difficult for the team to return and play the next match after just two days. However, the team is confident, compact and more solid.
“I think we are improving as a team. I don’t want to say that our improvement has the name of Chris or Victor. The team is playing better and of course, they are part of the team that played well in these matches”, Jose Mourinho.
