Jose Mourinho conducted a press conference on deadline day to provide latest ongoings at the club.
Manchester United are ready to face Leicester City on the opening day of Premier League 2018/19. The match will be played on Friday evening and Jose has provided the latest team news as well as transfer updates.
While speaking to the media on the deadline day morning, Mourinho confirmed that he is not expecting any more signings this summer. The boss was of the view that this summer’s transfer business is done and he is now looking forward to go with what he has.
When asked whether there will be any new arrivals today, the boss replied, “The information I have is no.”
Mourinho also claimed that he has stopped thinking about the transfers now as the window is soon going to be closed. He is ready to fight with what he has and expects a better squad after the first international break of the season. The international break is due at the end of this month.
Several Players Injured Ahead of New Season
The boss has also named all the latest injured players. The list includes goalkeeper Sergio Romero, who had a surgery after his injury which ruled him out of the World Cup. Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia still remains injured after picking up a knock at preseason opener.
The list goes on to include defender Marcos Rojo, who got injured during the World Cup. New signing Diogo Dalot, who underwent a surgery during his time at Porto (at the end of April). The most shocking player in the list includes midfielder Ander Herrera, who picked a knock against Bayern Munich. Joining him on the list is Nemanja Matic, who also had a surgery after getting injured during the World Cup.
Manchester United manager also argued that his players who were involved in the World Cup are also not yet ready for the Leicester game.
“They returned on Monday. They trained on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today, so you can imagine that they’re not really fit and ready. But we have needs,” said Jose.
However, Mourinho said that he will communicate with his players during the training today. And see their physical and mental condition to analyze whether they can play or not.
