With Matteo Darmian set to leave and defenders, Antonio Valencia and Diogo Dalot both suffering from injuries, Manchester United is facing a huge injury crisis at the right back.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has challenged Ashley young to cut short his holiday and return to join the squad ahead of the Premier League season. The 33-year-old English defender is still on holidays after the World Cup duty.
The Red Devils are facing huge right back crises. Antonio Valencia was injured last Sunday during the game against San Jose Earthquakes. The Ecuadorian limped off the field and is anticipated to be suffering from a torn calf. The skipper leaves the tour immediately and goes home for proper treatment. As revealed by Mourinho earlier, Valencia will not be able to return for the first few games of the league.
New signing Diogo Dalot is also recovering from a knee operation he underwent earlier this year. The 19-year-old is also likely to miss first few games of the Premier League.
Matteo Darmian set to leave Manchester United
Matteo Darmian is all set to leave the Theater of Dreams. Mourinho confirmed that they will allow Darmian to leave whenever they’ll get the suitable price. As a human, it’s his basic right to choose whatever he wants.
“Darmian is a fantastic guy and a tremendous pro,” said Mourinho.
Darmian: “I want to play more regularly. Last season, I didn’t play much, that’s my objective and my ambition….
Now with the key players injured, United are without a recognized right back.
“Ashley Young, a possibility to play right-back, is on holiday. I don’t know if he fancies being back for that and putting himself to be available for the team or stay on holiday,” added Mourinho.
Now it’s a tough decision to make for Young. With both right backs unavailable he could clutch the chance to lead the squad.
